(17) Idolatry and spiritual adultery



『Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.』 (James4:4) An adulterer is a person who has fallen spiritually. These are the Israelites, Those who destroyed the covenant made with God and suffered spiritual corruption. There are many spiritual adulterers in the church today. The Old Testament, God spoke to the Israelites who worshiped idols as a woman who committed adultery through the prophet Hosea.『Plead with your mother, plead: for she is not my wife, neither am I her husband: let her therefore put away her whoredoms out of her sight, and her adulteries from between her breasts; Lest I strip her naked, and set her as in the day that she was born, and make her as a wilderness, and set her like a dry land, and slay her with thirst. And I will not have mercy upon her children; for they be the children of whoredoms.』 (Hosea 2: 2-4)

Jesus likens the time of the end to the time of Lot and the time of Noah.『That the sons of God saw the daughters of men that they were fair; and they took them wives of all which they chose. And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.』(Genesis 6: 2-3)

The sons of God are born from God, and the daughters of men are born from men. Noah's day means a time of spiritual adultery.

(2) The kingdom of God as the spirit world

Human beings can not see the spiritual kingdom of God through the eyes of the flesh. God tells people about the kingdom of God through the Bible. John who was the apostle recorded in the book of Revelation the kingdom of God which he saw when he was confined in the island of Patmos. 『 And he carried me away in the spirit to a great and high mountain, and shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, Having the glory of God: and her light was like unto a stone most precious, even like a jasper stone, clear as crystal; 』 (Revelation21:10-11) Jewels symbolize the suffering and the patience. 2. The kingdom of God (1) Heavens

(1) Heavens The heavens mean that there are several heavens. The first heaven is generally the atmosphere. The second heaven is outer space. Third, heaven means the kingdom of God. 『 I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven. 』 (2 Corinthians 12: 2) Genesis (1: 1) of niv Bible makes it seem as if the creation of heaven and earth of this world and the kingdom of God were made together.
