(7) The meaning of the death in the Bible
The meaning of the
dead are two cases. The first, through the ritual of death, the person to be
baptized report God himself to be died. This is baptism.『Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into
death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the
Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.』(Romans 6:4)
Baptism is a ritual
that is submerged and comes out of the water again. Soaking in water does not
wash sin (dirt), but death. Coming up from the water again shows that it is
born as a new life.『The like figure whereunto even
baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh,
but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus
Christ.』(2 Peter 3:21)
Second, the death
represents the abandonment of one's thoughts when there is a difference between
the words of God and the thoughts of men. People often think that God's words
are unrealistic. However, the death is the faith to give up on his own thoughts
and to believe in the promises of God.
The Israelites sent
twelve spies to the land of Canaan before enter into the land of Canaan. They
came back and told the people. When ten spies said that if we enter into
Canaan, we shall be die because of the giants Anak. The two said that we will
win Anak. All the people that exodus from Egypt believed the report of ten
spies. God was angry. God had all the people of Israel to be die in the
wilderness, except for those who were born in the wilderness and children(1-19years).
